In the NAMI Shoals Office we have note cards - 10 alike or assortments, for $6 and larger ones for $7.50. We also have packs of 25 Christmas Cards ranging from $7 to $15. The Art work on the cards is done by people with mental illness and they are beautiful! Support research on mental illness by buying some for yourself or give as gifts or get someone you know to buy some.

Regularly Scheduled Meetings

All meetings,  unless otherwise noted, will be held at the NAMI Shoals Office at 749 Thompson Street Suite-A (see map) in the former WestWay Building directly behind the Burger King.

Family To Family Support Group:  Meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, 7:00 - 8:30 P.M. with Joe Cobb and Susan Woodward, Facilitators. This group is for all ages -- for families, and friends and significant others of consumers.  It is a support, sharing and caring type meeting.

Regular Board Meeting:  3rd Tuesday of each month, 5:30 P.M. at Singleton's Bar-B-Que Restaurant, 4220 Huntsville Rd, Florence, 760-0802 (see map).

Monthly Educational Meeting:
  4th Tuesday of each month at the NAMI office, at 7 P.M. featuring a variety of speakers from different agencies as well as psychiatrists from the Riverbend outpatient mental health clinic and from private practice.

Shoals Sharing Group For Mental Health Consumers:  1st and 3rd Sunday of each month 2:00 - 3:30 P.M. at North Wood United Methodist Church (see map).



Special Meetings, Classes and Seminars

Caregivers Resource Awareness and Management (C.R.A.M.)

For caregivers of children and teenagers diagnosed with mental illnesses or brain disorders:  ADD/ADHD, PDD/autism, Tourette's Conduct Disorder, Oppositional Defiant disorder, bipolar disorder, Depression, eating Disorders, Anxiety disorders, Panic Disorder, Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder, Schizophrenia/Schizoaffective Disorder).  Instructors: Sharon and Waylon Wright and Amy Barrier.  Dates/times of next class to be announced.  Call 765-2081 to be placed on the waiting list.


Family-to-Family 12-Week Course

The next Family-to-Family 12 Week Educational Course will next be offered starting March 15, 2007. The class meets weekly for twelve consecutive weeks from 7 to 9:30 P.M. in the meeting room at our office on Thompson Street. These classes are for families of adults 18 and older who have schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, major depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and borderline disorder.  It also covers dual diagnoses of one of the above illnesses and substance abuse. Friday Conference Calls with Dr. Ken  Duckworth, NAMI's Medical Director: 
 All children's  Friday conference calls will take place on the 3rd Friday of the month,  unless the date is changed to accommodate a guest participant and we will  notify you of that change.
